The Statesville Fire Department proudly welcomed four new members to its team during a swearing-in ceremony held Monday, November  10, 2025, at City Hall.

Mayor Costi Kutteh administered the oath of office to Firefighters Nicholas Coover, Shane Nicholson, Jackie Estero, and Grant McCoy as family, fellow firefighters, and city staff looked on – marking an important milestone in each firefighter’s career and the continued growth of the department.

Fire Chief Glenn Kurfees shared that the ceremony marked a special occasion for the department as it officially welcomed its newest firefighters. He spoke about the significance of the badge, which represents commitment, service, and sacrifice, and commended each new firefighter for the hard work and dedication it took to earn the honor. Chief Kurfees also thanked the families in attendance for their support and encouragement.

The City of Statesville extends its warmest congratulations and appreciation to Firefighters Nicholson, McCoy, Coover, and Estero as they begin their journey of serving and protecting the community.
