Complete a multiple-choice written exam and tour the physical agility course so you know what to expect before the real test.
SPAC Physical Agility Test
Applicants will return to complete the SPAC, which assesses physical fitness and job-related tasks required of a firefighter.
Interviews
Participate in a structured interview to assess your readiness, communication, and alignment with our department values.
The SPAC (Statesville Physical Agility Course)
The SPAC is designed to test your job-specific strength, speed, and endurance. You’ll complete 11 challenges, including ladder climbs, hose drags, equipment carries, and more - all while wearing a weighted vest to simulate firefighting gear.
We’ll give you time to prepare, and you’ll have an opportunity to walk through the course before the test day.
Training You’ll Receive
All new hires undergo comprehensive training through SFD and state-certified programs. This training ensures you are fully prepared to handle fire suppression, medical calls, rescue operations, and more - all with confidence and professionalism.
