Fire Watch Requirements/Procedures

A “fire watch” is a temporary measure intended to ensure continuous and systematic surveillance of a building or portion thereof by no less than two qualified individuals for the purpose of identifying and controlling fire hazards, detecting early signs of unwanted fires, raising an alarm of fire and notifying the fire department. This occurs during times when any fire protection systems (i.e. fire alarm system, fire sprinkler system, etc.) are out of service or “off-line.”

Informal Internal Review of Inspection Decisions

Any disagreement with a decision made by a Building Safety Official (i.e. field inspector or plan reviewer) may be brought before the Chief Building Inspector (Supervisor) for review.

Iredell County Self Service Portal

The City of Statesville is partnering with Iredell County in offering the public an online permitting system that will simplify development services countywide.

Knox Box Requirements

In order to allow rapid entry to properties for firefighters, Statesville Fire Rescue uses a designated key box and proprietary key system, utilizing the Knox Rapid Entry System. The Knox Rapid Entry System includes devices such as key boxes, keypads, pad locks, and key switches.
