Danny Nicholson serves as Assistant Chief for the Statesville Fire Department, overseeing Administration. He joined the department in 2001 and brings 44 years of fire service experience. He was appointed to the role of Assistant Chief in 2023.

Nicholson began his fire service career with Union Grove Volunteer Fire Department. Over the course of his career, he has served in several leadership roles including Lieutenant, Battalion Chief, and Accreditation Manager. He holds specialized training in Hazardous Materials Technician, Confined Space Rescue, and Rapid Intervention.

In his current role, Nicholson focuses on meeting the training needs of the department and ensuring personnel are prepared to serve the community safely and effectively. His guiding principles are safety first, mastering the basics, and maintaining strong attitude and effort.

Originally from Panama City, Florida, Nicholson enjoys coaching football and pole vaulting, along with beekeeping, quilting, and gardening. He and his wife have two sons and a daughter-in-law.
