Glenn Kurfees has served as Fire Chief of the Statesville Fire Department since July 2023. Appointed by City Manager Ron Smith, Chief Kurfees brings more than 20 years of fire service experience and a lifelong commitment to public safety.

Chief Kurfees began his fire service career at age 16 with the Monticello Volunteer Fire Department. He later served as Deputy Chief at West Iredell Volunteer Fire Department before joining the Statesville Fire Department in July 2005. Over the past two decades, he has held several leadership roles within the department, most recently serving three years as Deputy Fire Chief, where he helped oversee daily operations and departmental growth.

As Fire Chief, Kurfees focuses on strengthening emergency response capabilities, supporting firefighter safety and wellness, and building strong partnerships within the community to ensure the highest level of service.

“I am aware of the trust and responsibility that comes with this position,” said Chief Kurfees. “I am dedicated to providing the resources, training, and support our firefighters need to serve our community safely and effectively.”

Outside of work, Chief Kurfees enjoys spending time with his wife, Selena, and their two daughters, Abigail and Ella.
