The Fire Officer credential recognizes fire service professionals who demonstrate excellence in leadership, education, experience, and professional development within the fire service. The credentialing process includes a comprehensive review of an applicant’s career achievements, training, certifications, and commitment to continued growth.

According to the Commission on Professional Credentialing, there are currently 1,036 active Fire Officer designees nationwide as of January 2026.

“Captain Mitchell’s achievement reflects his dedication to professional growth and his continued commitment to serving the community at the highest level,” said Fire Chief Glenn Kurfees. “We are proud of his accomplishment and the leadership he brings to the Statesville Fire Department each day.”

The Statesville Fire Department continues to support advanced training and professional development opportunities that strengthen the department’s ability to serve the community with professionalism and excellence.
