Lighthouse Deliverance Church Summer Camp Visits Station 1

Statesville Fire Department welcomed campers from Lighthouse Deliverance Church's Summer Camp to Station 1 for a morning of fire safety education, hands-on learning, and an unforgettable look at the daily life of a firefighter.

During their visit, campers learned important safety lessons, including Stop, Drop, and Roll, when to call 9-1-1, different ways to contact emergency services using today's technology, vacation safety tips, and the importance of always knowing two ways out of their home in an emergency.

The group also toured the station, explored fire engines and the ladder truck, and learned about the protective gear firefighters wear while responding to emergencies.

The visit became even more memorable when both engine companies were dispatched to emergency calls. Campers watched firefighters quickly gear up, board the trucks, and respond with lights and sirens, giving them a firsthand glimpse into the work our crews do every day to serve the community.

Before leaving, three campers shared that they plan to enroll in the CATS Fire Technology program next year because they hope to become firefighters and EMTs.

Moments like these are a reminder of why community education is such an important part of our mission. Every station tour, classroom visit, and safety presentation has the potential to inspire the next generation of first responders.

We appreciate the opportunity to host Lighthouse Deliverance Church's Summer Camp and thank our chief and crews for taking time between emergency calls to educate, encourage, and inspire these young visitors. We look forward to welcoming them back to Station 1 in the future.
