Statesville Fire Department Hosts 2025 Community Meeting

Last Updated 1/29/2026Posted in Fire News

The Statesville Fire Department (SFD) welcomed residents to a Community Meeting on September 25, 2025, at Fire Station 1. The event gave community members a chance to meet Fire Chief Glenn Kurfees, the command staff, and firefighters while learning more about SFD’s services, achievements, and future plans.

The presentation highlighted SFD’s status as an internationally accredited agency with an ISO Class 1 rating, placing the department among a select group of fire services worldwide recognized for excellence. Attendees also learned about the department’s specialized teams, including Heavy Rescue and Hazmat response, as well as community safety programs such as fire extinguisher and CPR training, Steps to Safety for older adults, and Child Passenger Safety initiatives.

The meeting also included details on SFD’s four fire stations and apparatus, alternative funding sources such as federal grants, and recent call response statistics showing the wide range of services provided to the community.

Importantly, Chief Kurfees and his team emphasized the value of community feedback. Residents were invited to share what “good service” means to them and to complete the 2025 SFD Community Survey to help shape the future of fire services in Statesville.

The Statesville Fire Department thanks everyone who attended and looks forward to continuing strong partnerships to keep Statesville safe.
