Statesville Fire Department Visits Health Science Class to Teach Fire Safety and Hazard Awareness

Last Updated 3/13/2026Posted in Fire News

The Statesville Fire Department had the opportunity to visit a local Health Science class to talk about fire safety and hazardous materials awareness in healthcare settings.

Students participated in a hospital safety escape room challenge, where they worked in teams to solve real-world safety scenarios involving fire hazards, infection control, and emergency response. It was great to see them thinking critically and working together to make safe decisions in situations similar to those faced by healthcare professionals and first responders.

We also discussed how Firefighters and healthcare workers work together during emergencies and the importance of recognizing safety signs, using proper protective equipment, and understanding how hazardous materials can appear in everyday environments.

Hands-on learning like this helps students connect classroom knowledge to real-world safety skills that protect patients, coworkers, and their communities.

Thank you to the students and teachers for welcoming us into your classroom. We love opportunities to connect with the next generation of healthcare professionals!
