Structure Fire – Ferti Technologies/McNess Road

Last Updated 2/2/2026

Statesville, NC - November 30, 2023: At 5:49 pm on Thursday, November 30, 2023, the Statesville Fire Department (SFD) responded to a call for a potential structure fire at a commercial building on McNess Road, in mutual aid to Iredell County. Due to the response and nature of the call, Battalion 1 made the decision to supplement the response by adding a third SFD engine.

Upon arrival, Engine 3 was the first unit on the scene and reported a working fire with flames visible through the roof. In response to the escalating situation, SFD Ladder 1 was dispatched, and a General Alarm recall of off-duty personnel was initiated to ensure coverage within the city. Recognizing the potential hazards, SFD Hazmat 1, along with Chief 1, Chief 2, and Chief 3, were dispatched to the scene to assist in mitigating the situation. The collaborative effort included units from Cool Spring, Wayside, Troutman, Cleveland Fire, Iredell Emergency Management, Iredell EMS, Iredell Rescue, Harmony Fire, Iredell Fire Marshal, and Rowan Rescue, working collectively to bring the incident under control.

The incident proved to be unique and challenging, requiring several hours to gain control due to the contents and size of the building. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries. The investigation into the incident is being handled by the Iredell County Fire Marshal's Office.
