Firefighter Swear-In Ceremony Held at City Hall

The Statesville Fire Department welcomed five new firefighters during a swearing-in ceremony on January 30, 2026, in the Council Chambers at Statesville City Hall. With family, friends, and fellow firefighters in attendance, Mayor Doug Hendrix administered the oath of office, officially marking the start of their service to the Statesville community. The ceremony marked an important milestone, recognizing both the commitment of the firefighters and the support of those who joined them for the occasion. Each firefighter brings prior experience from departments across the region, strengthening the department’s ability to serve and protect.

Meet the New Firefighters

  • Bryan Ellis has been assigned to Station 2 on A-Shift. He brings 1.5 years of fire service experience with Shepherds Fire Department.
  • Justin Keller has been assigned to Station 2 on C-Shift. He previously served two years with Newton Fire Department.
  • Jacob Norman has been assigned to Station 1 on B-Shift. He brings five years of experience with Cool Springs Fire Department and continues to serve part-time with Cool Springs Fire Department and Ebenezer Fire Rescue.
  • Austin Thorneburg has been assigned to Station 1 on C-Shift. He brings four years of experience with Monticello Fire Department.
  • Dalton Warren has been assigned to Station 1 on A-Shift. He previously served four years with Salisbury Fire Department and two years with St. Andrews Fire Department in the Charleston area.

The Statesville Fire Department is proud to welcome these firefighters and looks forward to the experience, dedication, and professionalism they bring as they begin their careers serving the Statesville community.
