Statesville Fire Department Announces Promotions to Captain and Lieutenant

The Statesville Fire Department is proud to announce the promotions of Justin Yox to Captain and Joseph Taylor to Lieutenant.

Captain Justin Yox

Captain Justin Yox has been with the department since March 2016.

Throughout his career, he has risen through the ranks from Firefighter to Senior Firefighter and Lieutenant, and he has been serving as Acting Captain since January 2026. Captain Yox holds various professional certifications and has demonstrated strong leadership and dedication to the department and the community.

In his new role, he is assigned to Ladder 1 on A-Shift.

Lieutenant Joseph Taylor

Lieutenant Joseph Taylor has been with the department since June 2018.

He progressed through the ranks from Firefighter to Firefighter I and Senior Firefighter, and he has been serving as Acting Lieutenant since January 2026. Lieutenant Taylor also holds various professional certifications and has consistently shown professionalism, growth, and commitment in his service.

He is now assigned to Engine 3 on A-Shift.

The City of Statesville congratulates Captain Yox and Lieutenant Taylor on their well-earned promotions and thanks them for their continued service to the community.
