Statesville Fire Recruit Update: Hands-On Training in Vehicle Extrication

Last Updated 4/14/2026Posted in Fire News

Statesville Fire Department recruits continue to build critical, real-world skills as part of their training program.

Recently, recruits participated in vehicle extrication training at Gordon’s Iron and Metal. This hands-on training focused on the use of hydraulic rescue tools along with lifting and stabilization techniques. These skills are essential when responding to serious vehicle accidents.

Training in a real-world environment gives recruits the opportunity to gain practical experience in safely removing victims from vehicles while working efficiently under pressure. From cutting and spreading metal to stabilizing vehicles before extrication, each step plays an important role in keeping both patients and responders safe.

The Statesville Fire Department appreciates the partnership with Gordon’s Iron and Metal for providing a location that helps prepare recruits for the challenges they may face in the field.

As training continues, these recruits are developing the knowledge and confidence needed to serve and protect the Statesville community every call, every day.
