Statesville Fire Department Launches New Community Risk Reduction Vehicle

Last Updated 1/29/2026Posted in Fire News

The Statesville Fire Department is proud to unveil a newly designed Community Risk Reduction (CRR) vehicle – an eye-catching tool that will help bring life- saving safety education directly to neighborhoods across the city.

This vibrant vehicle is more than just transportation – it’s a mobile education unit designed to promote awareness and support the department’s ongoing public outreach efforts, as well as its accreditation through the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE).

Featuring bold graphics and impactful messaging, the CRR vehicle highlights key fire and life safety practices, including:

  • “Know 2 Ways Out” – Encouraging families to create and regularly practice a home fire escape plan.
  • “Can You PASS the Fire Test?” – Teaching proper fire extinguisher use with the acronym: Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep.
  • “We Install Free Alarms!” – Reinforcing the importance of working smoke alarms and the department’s free installation program.
  • “Become a CPR Superhero” – Promoting hands-only CPR training.

“We want fire and life safety education to be front and center – and easy to see,” said Fire & Life Safety Educator/Community Risk Reduction Officer Heather Gessler. “This vehicle is not just a means of transportation. It’s a conversation starter, a teaching tool, and a visible reminder of our commitment to preventing emergencies before they happen.”

The new design was brought to life by the creative team at Red Eye Designs, with special thanks to Brandi Wiggins for capturing the department’s vision. The Statesville Fire Department also extends appreciation to Downtown Statesville Development Corporation and Steve Billings for their support and for providing photos that helped showcase the vehicle’s message.

Residents can expect to see the CRR vehicle at schools, community events, and throughout the city – because safety starts with awareness.
