Statesville Fire Department Provides Hands-On Fire Extinguisher Training at J.C. Steele & Sons

Last Updated 3/27/2026Posted in Fire News

The Statesville Fire Department recently partnered with the team at J.C. Steele & Sons for a hands-on fire extinguisher training, combining classroom learning with real-world application.

The training began with an in-depth classroom session, where participants learned the fundamentals of fire safety. Topics included how fire behaves, understanding different types of fires, selecting the correct extinguisher for each situation, and how to safely and confidently operate a fire extinguisher.

Following the classroom portion, participants moved outside for a live demonstration. In a controlled environment, they practiced extinguishing real flames, gaining valuable hands-on experience and building confidence in their ability to respond during an emergency.

After the training, firefighters had the opportunity to tour the J.C. Steele & Sons facility, observing firsthand how steel, chrome, and other metals are processed - a reminder of the unique fire risks present in industrial settings.

Training opportunities like this are essential in helping businesses prepare for potential emergencies. The Statesville Fire Department appreciates the team at J.C. Steele & Sons for their engagement, commitment to safety, and dedication to protecting their workplace and employees.
